That would have to be The OA on Netflix for a number of reasons, but above all, there was this long moment where I had no idea what was going on but I was still enthralled. The mix of sci-fi, fantasy, and straight up drama had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Anytime there was an atom of calm, BOOM! Everything got at least 2 times worse, it was like the writers were allergic to tranquility.
Sure Season 2 was not as great, but can you blame it? Season 1 left some pretty big shoes to fill. But, boy did the second season have its moments, it came along and said, “Hold my octopus.” Yes, the octopus thing was out there alongside beautiful art, interesting metaphors, and a story that refused to play by the rules. At the end of the day, the sheer unpredictability of the show makes it one of the most underrated shows of its time. Watch it, but be warned, there’s nothing else quite like it, and its open-ended nature is nothing short of haunting. Now, over to you, which movie or show do you believe deserves more credit?
