‘Lucifer’ Cast: Meet the Stars of This Sinful Pleasure

We’ve seen many onscreen tales about the fallen angel, depicting him as a menacing creature. So, he’s basically the bad guy fated to lose in the struggle for good and evil. Then there’s Netflix’s Lucifer, developed by Tom Kapinos and based on the D.C Comics character of the same name. During its five-year run, the show captivated audiences for both the right and ‘wrong’ reasons, gathering a solid fanbase along the way. But, who’s the cast of Lucifer that brought the intricate story to life?

This time, the Prince of Darkness (played by Tom Ellis) is not your run-of-the-mill villain, but more of an anti-villain of sorts. On the show, he occasionally visits Earth, specifically the city of Angels (Los Angeles), where he’s established as a nightclub owner. Boldly claiming to be the devil, he doles out favors while enjoying the pleasures of life a little too much. Somehow, fate pairs him with the witty and clever Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German), and that’s where things get interesting. So without further ado, let’s meet the cast who brought this unholy tale to our screens.

Tom Ellis as Lucifer

Playing the Ruler of Demons himself in the most charming British accent is Tom Ellis. Full name Lucifer Morningstar, he abandons his post in hell to live as a nightclub owner and modern-day Rumpelstiltskin in Los Angeles. After helping Detective Chloe Decker on a case, he decides he quite fancies it and becomes a consultant for the LAPD. So, he finds himself putting away bad guys, which, according to him, was already his gig down below, while truly understanding human nature in the process.

Wondering where you’ve seen the handsome devil before? Well, Ellis is known for his main cast roles in Nice Guy Eddie, Sugartown, as well as a recurring role in EastEnders. He even played Lucifer in an episode of The Flash, solidifying his place in the DCEU. More recently, he voiced God Cat in Netflix’s Exploding Kittens, another refreshing take on the battle between good and evil.

Lauren German as Detective Chloe Decker

The sharpshooter to Lucifer’s cunning charmer, Decker is a by-the-book homicide detective. It’s clear that there’s chemistry between the two from the start. However, their cat-and-mouse game is as elaborate as the one they play with criminals. Her personal life is not without its challenges, as the death of her father haunts her. In fact, it was his death that spurred her decision to become a detective.

Besides being an integral part of the cast of Lucifer, you’ve probably seen Lauren German in movies like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003), A Midsummer Night’s Rave and A Walk to Remember. On the TV side of things, she’s been in Happy Town, Hawaii Five-0 and a few episodes of 7th Heaven. She was also a notable part of the One Chicago franchise, appearing as Leslie Shay in Chicago Fire and Chicago P.D.

D.B. Woodside as Amenadiel

DB Woodside as Amenadiel in Lucifer

Bringing that dose of sibling rivalry and drama to the mix is none other than D.B. Woodside, who plays the angel Amenadiel. He’s the oldest of all God’s angels and is also his main enforcer and messenger. Best believe he takes that job quite seriously and, as such, is often the yin to Lucifer’s yang. However, down the road, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery that helps him see life beyond the usual black-and-white. In extension, he later becomes one of Lucifer’s greatest allies.

He’s been in movies like Romeo Must Die, Mississippi Damned and The Temptations. On the smaller screen, he’s been in a handful of procedurals like Monk, 24, Castle, Private Practice and Grey’s Anatomy. Like his fellow Lucifer alum, Rachael Harris, he also appeared in Suits.

Kevin Alejandro as Detective Daniel “Dan” Espinoza

Very much a driving force of the plot, Kevin Alejandro plays the role of Detective Daniel Espinoza, Chloe’s ex. Seeing as they work in close proximity, there is a little drama and tension between them. Perhaps this tension is heightened because of the daughter they have together. Dan is another character who experiences a great transformation throughout the show. Naturally, he’s not a fan of Lucifer from the start, seeing as he has a special connection with Chloe. It doesn’t help that Lucifer pokes fun at him every chance he gets.

Alejandro has notably been in shows like True Blood, Ugly Betty and even the world-renowned Grey’s Anatomy. He’s also been in a web series called Gemini Division. For a time, he was also a part of the Arrowverse appearing as Sebastian Blood/Brother Blood in Arrow.

Lesley-Ann Brandt as Mazikeen

Wherever Lucifer goes, demons must follow, right? Well, in this case, the demon is Mazikeen, who mostly goes by Maze. Gracing the cast of Lucifer to breathe life into the menacing role is Lesley-Ann Brandt, and boy, does she play it well.  She starts as Lucifer’s fiercely loyal confidant and protector. However, her journey of self-discovery turns out to be one of the most compelling on the show. You see, she’s a demon who eventually develops a soul, and this truly transforms her along the way.

Before Lucifer, Brandt was known for her role as Naevia in the popular historical drama Spartacus: Blood and Sand. She’s also appeared in The LibrariansGotham, CSI: NY, and Chuck. Since Lucifer she has appeared as Pearl Thorne in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live and voiced Liza Barrel in Captain Fall.

Rachael Harris as Dr. Linda Martin

Imagine being the devil’s shrink, now that’s truly a role of a lifetime. Joining the cast of Lucifer to step into the shoes of this character is Rachael Harris. You’ve probably seen her in Suits, The Hangover, The Good Wife, and The Diary of a Wimpy Kid. But this time around, she dips into wells of warmth and wits, which serve her greatly as Lucifer’s therapist and close friend. As one can imagine, the amount of personal and professional baggage she has to deal with is astonishing. It’s everything from relationship drama to celestial dilemmas.

Topping things up, she’s one of the first humans to find out that Lucifer is the actual devil. While it does turn her world upside down for a minute, she takes it in stride. Talk about being as open-minded as they come.

Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez

Aimee Garcia as Ella Lopez in Lucifer

It’s safe to say that when you’re dealing with a show of proportionate drama like Lucifer, there’s a need for a sweet soul like Ella Lopez. Here, Aimee Garcia plays Ella Lopez, a bubbly and ever-so-optimistic forensic scientist. Despite the fact that she’s a huge fan of the big guy upstairs, Lucifer can’t help but love her. Perhaps, it’s because of her knack for skills like card-counting and lock-picking. But that just goes to show that, despite her outlook on life, she has a depth that’s almost dark.

If you’re wondering where you’ve seen her before, she’s been in Private Valentine: Blonde & Dangerous, the RoboCop remake and as the voice of Denise in The Addams Family. On the TV side of things, she’s been in Dexter, George Lopez and Trauma. She also took centre stage in 2025 short, Aimee Comes First.

Other Notable Members of the Cast of Lucifer

Scarlett Estevez as Beatrice “Trixie” Espinoza

Another ray of sunshine on the show, Scarlett Estevez plays Decker and Espinoza’s daughter, Trixie. To the devil and demon’s initial dismay, she immediately takes a liking to Lucifer and Maze. In the process, she introduces them to warm parts of their personalities. Besides Lucifer, she’s been in both parts of Daddy’s Home and, more recently, Disney’s Ultra Violet & Black Scorpion.

Tricia Helfer as Goddess (Mum)

Roles don’t get as complicated as the mother of angels and God’s former wife. Here, Tricia Helfer takes human form and brings drama in her wake. She cares very little for humans and, as such, is a tad bit reckless during her time on Earth. However, her presence adds to the show’s intricate mythology. Helfer has been in Battlestar Galactica, Chuck and Van Helsing.

Brianna Hildebrand as Rory

If you stick around till the final season, then you’ll get to meet Rory, Lucifer and Chloe’s strong-willed daughter. She’s got her father’s edge and her mother’s fire, which is a perfect recipe for the chaos that unfurls in her wake. If you’re wondering why she looks familiar, look no further than the Deadpool movies. She’s also been in the TV show Trinkets.

Dennis Haysbert as God

Dennis Haysbert as God in Lucifer

Now it’s time to introduce the big guy himself, whom Dennis Haysbert plays. It’s safe to say that he’s not at all what you’d expect at first glance. But, you know what they say, “God works in mysterious ways”. Haysbert is celebrated for his roles in shows like 24 and The Unit.
