I’m going to “do one” for the girlies today and say it’s Julia Louis Dreyfus. Between her iconic roles as Elaine Benes in Seinfeld and Vice President Selina Meyer in Veep, she’s shown her comedic prowess on so many levels. In those roles, she delivers a wild energy melded with a weird combination of narcissism and empathy that makes her characters stand out.
Let’s not forget her part as Maggie Lizer, the (not) blind lawyer in Arrested Development. Even The New Adventures of Old Christine was a hidden, Emmy-worthy gem that often gets overlooked because it came in between Seinfeld and Veep. At the end of the day, it’s her passion for acting that really shines through. I mean, she comes from old money, so it’s clear that acting was a choice, one she so clearly excels at.
