There are so many great villains out there ranging from Hannibal Lecter to The Joker and even Plankton from Spongebob Squarepants. But, I’m going to take a hard left here and say that my favorite villain is Phineas and Ferb’s Dr. Doofenshmirtz. Check this out, he has “attainable” goals, none of that world domination stuff, he’s simply after the tri-state area. Perhaps what really wins me over is that deep down, he’s lovable but still puts in his very best efforts to be as evil as he can muster. Paired alongside the duplicitous Perry the Platypus, Doof is as cute a villain as he is menacing.
Besides all the comedy and satire layered into the cartoon, Doof’s character provides ample insight into the psyche of a villain through the fragments of his childhood. At the end of the day, he may be a failure at being evil in the perfect sense of the word, but he’s an admirable villain in my book. His is a character that just keeps giving.
